4 Signs That It’s Time For A Style Update

These 4 signs will tell you when it’s time for a style update. I am breaking it down for you in a comprehensive way so you can have an easy transition towards better style. After all, it’s my job to help you to enjoy getting dressed up. Don’t reserve looking good for special occasions. Remember that you deserve to look and feel amazing every single day.

No matter what the reason for getting tired of your style, we all face situations in life where our style could use a boost and an update. These feelings are completely valid but in no way they indicate your value as a person, so don’t put yourself down unnecessarily. Often it’s all about recognizing the situation so you can take the first step towards great style that makes you feel like your best self.

Get started by staying open and honest to yourself. Then inject some well deserved energy into your daily style with these attainable styling tips from your personal stylist Jenni at I on Image.

Keep On Eye on These Telltale Signs

1. Your style is no longer serving you

Your clothes should fit your desires, your body shape and your current lifestyle. Ideally your closet should be filled with versatile pieces that serve a purpose in all aspects of your life. They should help you to step out in style where ever you may go.

If you feel that there’s a too big discrepancy between your current lifestyle and your actual wardrobe, then it’s definitely time for a style update. As a result, you will feel more aligned with your life choices through your personal style.

2. Your clothes don’t excite you anymore

Your wardrobe should be filled with amazing items that invite and inspire you to dress up. They should also make you feel more confident and elevate your mindset on a daily basis. If this is no longer the case, then it is time to make some style changes.

Sometimes it’s a matter of a complete closet overhaul to get to the very core of your ideal style. But very often all you need is a few carefully chosen pieces that help you to enjoy dressing up again. Life is too short for dull style!

3. You are missing too many key elements in your wardrobe

Wear and tear happens and your size changes. It’s all natural but if you don’t replenish, at some point your style will suffer. If you’re continuously struggling to create outfits, there’s a high possibility that you’re missing the essential pieces in your closet.

By missing those valuable pieces, you end up doubting your style choices and feel overwhelmed when you need to leave the house. This is a clear sign that it’s time to go shopping for new.

4. You are going through big changes

Most of my clients come to me when their life journey is at crossroads. These changes may be: A new job, pregnancy, going back to work, divorce, finding a new partner, moving to a new place etc. When major life changes take place, it’s only natural that your style transforms with you.

This process allows you to stay true to yourself in all phases of your life, gain a sense of control during storms and enjoy your life to the fullest. You will feel more balanced by living in the presence and not dragging your past-self with you. Having a style update is a visual way to highlight the importance of this journey to yourself and to the outer word.

My personal style has changed fairly recently and instead of jeans, I prefer soft pants because it has been all about comfort lately and what I feel comfortable wearing. It would be good to go through my wardrobe and see what pieces I am missing though.

  2. Lisa's Notebook says:

My personal style has changed so much over the years. Now I work from home I’m definitely a jeans and top girl – comfort over style, except for Zoom meetings when I have to put some make up on!

Thank you for sharing your story Ashley. I recognize this situation only too well and sympathize with you. Good on you for taking actions. Hope my blog can help you get through to the next level. Wishing you all the best xx

I tick every one of those boxes. My body shape has changed so much that I dreaded putting on my clothes every day. I decided this week it is time for a style update, thank you for confirming what I thought (I feel supported in my decision to spend money now) xxx

  5. Stephanie says:

Truthfully I have looked at my closet and felt that I have hardly anything that excites me. I want to do an overhaul but I’m also scared those pieces might be missed! Loved reading this post, thanks for sharing!

  6. Sue Berk Koch says:

Thanks for the tips! I find that the change of seasons is perfect for re evaluating my wardrobe. I definitely need more foundational pieces, and am trying to go in that direction instead of grabbing at trendy items.

That’s really lovely to hear! I strongly believe that when you find your own unique style, you actually end up spending way less money on clothes and much less time to dress up. Enjoying the process is an added bonus! Thank you for telling your story xx

Love this! I kinda feel like lately – especially within the last year or so – my attitude towards clothes/style has changed. I’m buying things that I probably wouldn’t have bought a few years ago and I’m enjoying going out and deciding what to wear more than I have done in a very long time and it’s great!

Chime in... I'd love to hear what you have to say!
