Get To Know Me Better

Hello, I am Jenni, the image consultant and personal stylist behind I on Image and this blog. In this post I am telling a few things that you didn’t know about me. It’s nice to get closer to my readers every now and then, and this type of posts are ideal for that. This way you can learn more about who I really am. Read along and get to know me better!

🏠 I am Finnish but I live in The Netherlands since 2003. I have also lived in UK, Tanzania, Germany and Switzerland.

In many ways, I consider myself a citizen of the world and love to learn about different cultures -especially style related things are always close to my heart.

👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 I am married to the love of my life (he is British) and we have two tri-lingual, Lego & football loving sons. Family life is important to me and I love to spend time together.

Since the first lockdown in March my husband and I have both been working from home. We have honestly never spent this much time together. It has been really lovely and part of me hopes that we could always be like this.

A Few Words About My Work

👩‍🎓 I have a Bachelor’s degree in fashion and textile design and a dressmaking degree. The latter was a two year course that taught me everything about pattern making, material knowledge and sewing techniques.

In fact I am one of the few personal stylists in my area with a formal fashion education. Most of them have only a few month long college level diploma or online education.

I am deep in this and my love for style dates far (see a few point down for further proof). On top of that I am a major fashion nerd and an accomplished style aficionado.

👩‍💻 I started my image consulting business I on Image in 2015. I love to help busy business babes to be the best version of themselves and to express themselves through style.

People often think that you need to be rich, beautiful and skinny to have good style. The truth is that anyone can be stylish and look good.

Great fashion sense doesn’t require a lot of money. There are a lot of celebrities who look awful despite all that money. In my blog and social media you can grab a nice load of image and style tips for free.

❤️ I have been reading Vogue since I was 10. My Barbies were always the best dressed and had large flashy wardrobes full of my own designs.

I don’t sew much nowadays but I still like to customize items and do quick fixes and repairs. I encourage you to do the same because so many clothes look better with little adjustments. Also it’s sustainable to learn to take care of your clothes.

…More About Me

👗 My favorite pieces are dresses, jackets and shoes -and I have way too many… However, I encourage you to shop your closet and to re-purpose items as much as possible. Shopping for new is not the most fun part of loving fashion, styling items to look like you is!

😅 My guilty pleasure is watching American television soap opera The Bold and The Beautiful. I have been a fan since the first episode aired in Finland in 1992.

I used to watch it with my sister after school and joke about the extravagant outfits. The storyline has had a good few facepalm moments over the years but my love remains strong. Soaps for the win!

🎞 I often watch series and movies just for the fashion and to get inspired. Right now the beautiful vintage outfits on sinister Ratched have completely stolen my heart.

From recent series I love the extravagant OTT luxury fashion on Dynasty, all-American styling on Sweet Magnolias and Brianna’s and Grace’s glamorous business vibes on Grace & Frankie.

About Being Just Me At Home

👩‍🍳 I really like cooking but I am not very experimental or skilled. Going out and ordering in is much more fun but the lockdown has changed my views. It’s just nice to put a hearty homemade meal on the table, even if it’s just a simple pasta or a soup. I do make a killer risotto though!

🍁 My favorite season is autumn, hands down. I love the dark nights, crisp air, candles, foliage and especially fall fashion. Darker colors and adding some decadence to every outfit are totally my things!

👉 Now over to you. Tell me something I didn’t know about you in the comments section below.

This post was inspired by my Instagram post from 19th October 2020. Feel free to make your own post but remember to tag me = I on Image in your post. That way I can get to know you too!

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback Ming! Indeed this was one of the few posts that I didn’t SEO. I try to keep a healthy balance between giving valuable image consulting and style advice, getting the word about my affiliate partners out there and letting people feel the real me between the lines. This type of posts brings nice variety to the blog.

I love posts like this, it’s so interesting to learn more about individuals, especially when their blog niche mainly focuses on one aspect of their lives. It’s amazing that your sons speak 3 languages, I wish that they were pushed more here in the UK x

Hey Jenni, I love reading about the person behind the blog. Few bloggers do it these days with the obsession over SEO, but I think it is important for readers to know who they’re reading as well.

I can’t believe you’ve been reading Vogue since you were ten! I can’t even state a magazine that I have read for more than five years.

Thanks for giving us a peek into your life! 🙂
