3 reasons to hire an image consultant

1. set yourself apart

Style is a powerful form of self-expression. When there is so much information and materia available it’s easy to loose insight. Sometimes you don’t even know where to begin and that’s when I come to your rescue. I map with your the areas you need the most help with and can give you unbiased advice on your personal image. My job is to make you shine and to make your life easier. I enjoy the most to see the glow of confidence and excitement on my client’s face when they try on an outfit or an item of clothing that speaks volumes on them. It belongs to their story and they know it. Others certainly will notice it!

2. Save Money

I will help you to get rid of the things things in your wardrobe that you no longer need and I will help you rediscover items that you had forgotten about or always found difficult to combine. I know which items are missing from your wardrobe and which items would complete your look. With me you will always shop with an intention. You will never return home from your shopping trip with the 5th black cardigan or a fashionable item that looks dated in a month’s time ever again. I am not a sales person and so I don’t take any kickbacks from shops from your purchases. If I am participating an affiliate program through my website it’s always clearly marked so you can make an educated choice. I shop with all budgets and all brands from Primark to Prada. As a bonus I also know when the sales start and sometimes I can even predict which items will end up in sales so you can snatch them for half the price when the time is right.

3. Save Time

Get dressed in a flash? Shop like a pro? Yes please. I have made a career of knowing how to build looks that complement your best features. I always find the hidden gems in the fashion jungle. I know which shops have the nicest staff and tidiest fitting rooms. I have a nose for when the new stock is coming in and where you could still find sold out items. I plan our shopping trip so that we spend minimum time from moving from shop to another. I always keep in mind your budget, your body shape, your colours and your lifestyle. I advice how to wear your outfits and how to take care of them so you can cherish them for years. I also know the web shops inside out so shopping online will me will be a breeze over a cup of coffee.

Friday Style Secrets

follow I on Image’s video series Friday Style Secrets on Facebook and instagram for easy, fun and informative insider style tips

I saw a need for this series because it’s the small things that often have the biggest results. The series was originally launched in March 2017 and it got fast popular among I on Image’s fans. Spring 2018 I reran the series on both Facebook and Instagram because it just felt like waste of good material to show every episode just once. Now it’s an I on Image staple and people are waiting for new episodes to come out. I just went to a party where a lady recognized me as The Friday Style Secret presenter and that felt really nice after all the hard work I put into the series!

I have deliberately kept the videos short so you can take a quick look during your busy day. All videos are open to commenting so if you have any thoughts or questions, please go ahead and ask in the comments section even if the video is already old. You can see all the previous episodes here on I on Image’s Facebook page or  by following #FridayStyleSecrets hashtag on Instagram.

I am also very curious to know what would YOU like to see more. Email your creative ideas to ionimage@gmail.com with subject “Friday Style Secrets” and I will do my best to include your wishes in the new episodes. The new season airs on Friday 7th September 2018 around lunch time.

Stay tuned!

I am really enjoying making this series for your benefit. Hope you like it as much as I do!

Sale Shopping: The Do’s and The Don’ts

I just love a good sale shopping spree! The town is full of bargains at the moment but those bargains can be deceitful. Sometimes there is a reason why an item ended up in sale and sometimes you will find the item of your dreams for half the price.

To help you navigate through the racks full of fluorescent florals that hardly looked good on the model, I have compiled a list of the DO’s and the DON’Ts of sale shopping.

All rules apply regardless if you are shopping in stores or online.

sale shopping DO’s by i on image

1. Plan ahead

Go through your wardrobe and see what you really need. Sales are great for filling in the gaps in your style story and replacing your trusted basics. Look through your calendar for any upcoming events that might require a new outfit. Set yourself a budget

2. Buy basics

These pieces are the foundation of your wardrobe and need most often replacing. There is no point paying a full price for them when you can get a full update with a reduced price. I just replaced a bunch of T-shirts. Boring, but we do need them.

3. Buy classics

These pieces will give you joy for years to come. There are so many lists for the classics every woman and man needs to own but actually you define your own classics. A trench coat is a true classic but so is a biker jacket.

4. Buy items with WOW-factor

These are the items that make your wardrobe shine. It’s the 3rd stage when building a wardrobe after you have mapped your perfect basics & classics (see points above). These items tend to be pricey and are often made in a limited edition. If you manage to snatch one then you can congratulate yourself. Wear them with denim, flats or a plain T-shirt if the feel too OTT for normal day time use, see point below.

5. Consider price per wear

This is the real price of an item. The most expensive piece becomes a bargain if you wear it a lot throughout the years. The cheapest item becomes expensive if you wear it only once, or gasp, not even once.

6. Read the small print

Check the store’s exchange and return policy. Different rules may apply to sale items.

sale shopping DON’Ts by i on Image

1. Live in a dream

You are not Carrie Bradshaw. You cycle in the rain. You have children. You don’t have time for ironing or dry cleaning as it is. You don’t have a fancy event every week -or if you do can we please hang out?

2. Buy trends

The trend is usually over by the time the item reaches the sales rack. Buy only if the trend has your name on it. For me it means broderie anglaise and sequins. I wear both trends regardless of the trends.

3. Go for second best

If the fit is not right or the colour doesn’t flatter your features move on to the next item. A bargain should never make you feel mediocre. Look for sheer excitement and settle for nothing less.

4. Give up easily

The best buys are worth the browse. If your size or colour is sold out in store it’s worth checking if it’s available online or in another store. Take a photo of the product details to ensure  that you are hunting for the right one.

5. Buy it just because it’s on sale

The piece should still fit, flatter your features and fit your life style. Avoid duplicating items in your wardrobe. There are only so many frilly flower dresses that one summer can handle.

Enjoy your sale shopping, I hope you will find many fabulous things!

Summer Essentials 2017 by I on Image

In last week’s Friday Style Secrets episode on Facebook and Instagram I invited you to share your summer essentials and later I shared my own favorites that are:

  1. A cotton sundress in a lovely colour or print
  2. Sunscreen that doesn’t irritate your skin, killer mascara and lip gloss with SPF
  3. Sunglasses with an attitude

Inspired by the video I wanted to share with you more summer essentials that I have found for my clients or for myself.

Please note that, as usual, none of the links are affiliate links. I am an independent personal stylist and I take no kick backs from shops for advertising their products. I work with all brands from Primark to Prada and my sole aim is to find the best items for YOU. Should I on Image ever be involved in an affiliate program it will be clearly marked so you can make an educated style choice.

Here you can watch the video on Instagram and add your own summer essentials in the comments section throughout the summer of 2017

An unfortunate side note: That turquoise necklace that I am wearing on the video snapped last night and my kitchen was full of beads. I was sad because, besides of it being really nice for the summer, I made it myself a few years ago from two old necklaces (the other one was broken and the other one’s metal parts scratched my skin). I must repair it soon!

1. A cotton sundress in a lovely colour or print

This dress will take you from beach to parties. Just change the accessories. Remember to keep it as glam as possible throughout the day. Summer is too short for frumpy.

During the day it’s all about the easy breezy summer chic in flat sandals and cool shades. In the evening you can add a comfy wedge heel or platform sandals and jewelry, tons of jewelry. You can belt the dress for a more defined waistline but you can also eat in these dresses, unlike in many other summer frocks that I have seen lately.

I have selected only models that are 100% cotton and my strict criteria was that they must allow you to wear a proper bra underneath. I have also sneaked in a plus size dress because I strongly believe that enjoying summer and fashion belongs to everyone!

a) & Other Stories printed cotton shirt dress. Order yours here.

b) ASOS CURVE palm print midi sundress with ruffle. Order yours here.

c) COS Oversized printed T-shirt dress. Order yours here.

2. Sunscreen that doesn’t irritate your skin, killer mascara and lip gloss with SPF

You will enjoy the summer the most without a sunburn. First, it’s dangerous and aging. Second, it’s as far from chic as can be. So protect yourself. Stay in the shade or use a sunhat. Avoid the frying midday sun (it’s anyway a good excuse for a nap, if your schedule allows).

d) Colorescience Sunforgettable®Brush-on mineral sunscreen SPF 50. Available in 4 shades. Order yours here.

e) Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl waterproof mascara. My sister gave the normal version of this mascara to me as a present and I have been a fan ever since. Order yours here.

f) Paula’s Choice Resist Anti-Aging lip gloss SPF 40 in universally flattering pink. Finding a tinted lip product with this high SPF was not easy! Order yours here.

3. Sunglasses with an attitude

Nothing quite adds attitude to any style of clothing than a pair of really cool shades. They allow you to go #nomakeup, hide the fact that you skipped your boot camp in the park and drank rose on the pier with your girlfriends until you (almost) missed the last bus (*happened to a friend*) and most importantly prevent you from getting that miserable headache that I always get from being in the sun.

g) &Other Stories colour block sunglasses. Order yours here.

h) Jeepers Peepers unisex visor style sunglasses with tortoiseshell and gold frame and brown tinted lens. Order yours here.

i) Le Specs ASHANTI matte quartz  diamond mirror cat-eye sunglasses. Order yours here.
