GUEST POST: Delicious DIY Face Masks

Inspired by the very first rays of spring sunshine (and slightly shocked by the effects of one’s wine and chocolate egg diet on one’s face…) I on Image welcomes our second guest beauty blogger Nirit Yogev, owner of Pure Natural Cosmetics. With Nirit’s gentle guidance we make our own face masks with ingredients from our own kitchen cupboards. Bye bye puffy Easter face, welcome radiant healthy spring skin!


CRANBERRY FACE MASK

Cranberries are naturally rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin K and plenty of other antioxidants, which will keep your skin looking healthy. This power-packed berry also acts as a natural toner, and when combined with moisture-rich honey and yogurt, it creates a soothing mask.

Ingredients:

  • 6-7 crushed cranberries (fresh, not canned!)
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of plain organic yogurt

Instructions:

Combine all of the ingredients. Apply to a clean face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes, then rinse it off gently with warm water.


COCOA AND COFFEE DETOX MASK

This mask will detox your skin and really make sure that it is not puffy at all. This mask also helps replenish a lot of the lost moisture that your skin sustains. So, if you want to plump up your skin and make it look healthy, hydrated and oh-so-beautiful, this is the mask for you!

Coffee&Cocoa

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons freshly ground coffee
  • 2 tablespoons pure cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 3 tablespoons yogurt or sour cream

Instructions:

Blend all of the ingredients together, spread evenly over skin, and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes. When you rinse it off, massage your face gently to exfoliate as well. If there’s any mask left over after you wash your face with it, add a bit of water to it and use it as a scrub for the backs of your arms and any other body part that could do with some smoothing.


REDUCE REDNESS FACE MASK

This reduce redness face mask will help pull out the red in your face and leave it looking oh-so-pretty and fresh. All you need is some green tea, some yogurt, oatmeal, apple cider vinegar and finally some honey. Did you know that apple cider vinegar is amazing for you skin? It really helps to stabilize the pH in your skin.

ReduceRedness

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 tablespoons dry instant oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoons plain, unsweetened yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Strong-brewed green tea

Instructions:

Blend the first 4 ingredients in a bowl, and add 3 tablespoons hot, strong green tea to the mixture. Stir regularly for a few minutes, adding tea as needed until you’ve created a thick paste. Apply it to your face and let sit for 10-15 minutes, then wipe clean gently with a damp cloth. Rinse with cool-to-warm water, but do not use soap, and pat dry gently. Repeat twice a week for best results.
