Going green

This autumn I find myself drawn to all things that are green. I associate the colour green strongly with nature: for me it’s the colour of tranquility, freshness, growth and fertility. Green makes me think of safety and it’s also commonly associated with money. It’s a delightfully fresh looking colour that to my excitement makes a return in fashion every few years.

With green it’s important to choose the right shade for your skin tone to avoid looking sick -or envious- but there is a shade for everyone. My personal favorites are bottle green and olive green. I also love fresh grass green and luxurious shades of emerald and jade. Green looks great with our trusted neutrals black and denim, and I am also giving you the green light to wear it with your winter whites (see what I did there).

I have created you these five green looks to wear this season in the office. Hope you like them as much as I do. Let’s celebrate the positive power of green! I have also pinned them all on my Pinterest board: https://nl.pinterest.com/IonImage/i-on-image-working-wardrobe/styled-by-i-on-image-aw2016/so go ahead and pin them on your own style board for your inspiration.

Did you like these looks? As mentioned earlier, each one of them can be ordered through StyleFruits.nl by clicking each photo. I on Image and Inna-Store proudly present

Here at I on Image I have been picking up working again after summer holidays. In my last blog post I was writing about my die-hard love for autumn fashion and promised a lot of great things that my readers can benefit of.

“There will be new looks for you to shop or pin, great advice to boost your image and a top secret discount code (spoiler alert: it will make you the most stylish person in the office).”

I got a lot of positive feedback about the lilac dress that I wore at SPARK 2016 and I can only agree that is was fabulous! It was an Inna-Store “Dora” dress for pear shape and I could not be happier to have the wonderful opportunity to restart my public speaking engines in a dress that exuded confidence. You can read more about this memorable event on my blog post from July. I was delighted to wear something that was locally designed by another busy business woman, Inna Tetiyevska, who as a mother and an everyday aesthetic understood my needs completely.

“I want a gorgeous dress that I can just pick from the hanger, throw it on and run out to do my job, without having to think about it again the whole day.”

What I need -read: demand- from a work dress is that is has to be stunning . I want to stand out from the crowd and be remembered for the right reasons. It also has to be low maintenance. I hate ironing and who has the time for it anyway. Having your dress wrinkle already during your commute is a drama. I want to photograph well even late in the afternoon or even in the evening on an after-work event, and that sets high expectations to the dress material. Same goes for the dry-cleaning which makes me move right away on to another dress that can be machine washed. I always say that work clothes need to work for you, not the other way around, and thinking about maintenance is a crucial point when choosing the right dress. I want a gorgeous dress that I can just pick from the hanger, throw it on and run out to do my job, without having to think about it again the whole day.

Inna managed to tick all the boxes so I went and ordered mine -and I am already planning to go for a second one, possibly “Anna” again cut to fit my pear shape. The dresses come in 7 flattering colours (black, beige, grey, red, blue, purple and lilac) and they are tailored to fit 3 different body shapes: Rectangle, pear and hourglass. You can choose between a standard fit and a custom fit that is stunning bespoke creation that is made-to-measure so that your dress will fit like a glove and flatters your best features. You can read more about the dresses and the designer on my blog post from March.

Time has come to reveal the discount code that I on Image proudly presents with our partner Inna-Store! You get a 5% discount on your new stylish work dress at Inna-Store by using discount code IONIMAGE. Hope you will love your dress as much as I love mine. Enjoy!

There is something magical about autumn: The crisp morning air, darker nights, colourful foliage… and fashion. It’s my favorite time of the year and I always feel myself coming back to life after the long lazy summer days. I love dressing myself darker shades because they look infinitely more chic than the juicy summer tones that often make people look like they are trying too hard or are simply living in a coconut scented fantasy. Wrap me up in cool grey, stylish navy, earthy brown, buttery beige, powdery muted pastels and edgy black instead.

I am wild about combining different textures for interesting looks, for example crisp cotton with tweed or silk with leather, that are both my signature styles. There is also something very comforting about being more covered and this hasn’t got so much to do with age. I already fell for fall fashion when I was a teenager. Every September I am most delighted about the opportunity to start wearing my safety blanket -black opaque tights- again after months of running around with my lily white varicose-vein-ridden legs on display.

My unconditional love for autumn reached it’s current height when I worked in retail where autumn was a very important season. People tend to invest more in their autumn wardrobes because it’s mostly work wear and has a longer life span than summer fashion has. And when they are going to invest more they want to be sure that they are buying the right things. This was, and still is, a wonderful challenge for me and even now as my own boss when buying for summer I am already thinking how the item could translate into fall or even spring. This way my clients get more for their money and that is a wonderful thing!

In the coming weeks I on Image will be posting under theme: Back to Work. There will be new looks for you to shop or pin, great advice to boost your image and a top secret discount code (spoiler alert: it will make you the most stylish person in the office). Stay tuned and make sure to follow my daily updates on I on Image’s Facebook page. Book your image consulting session already now as I will be very busy in September and October. This will be an amazing autumn, I can feel it!

I on Image is in love with Inna-Store dresses

On one of those rainy January days I drove to Rotterdam to see Inna Tetiyevska of Inna-Store to learn more about her beautiful feminine dresses. My day was immediately brightened up by listening to the Ukrainian designer’s vision on the modern working woman’s business wear. Inna has been drawing and sketching her whole life but she ended up studying linguistics. She moved to the Netherlands with her husband and had a child. Lucky for us dress-loving ladies, her true calling was too strong to resist and so she went and launched her first collection carrying her own name in spring 2014.

All Inna fabrics come from The Netherlands and since recently they are also sewn in a small atelier in Rotterdam. I am a huge fan of local produce and in my opinion clothes shouldn’t be an exception. We have been buying clothes from cheap sweat shops for too long and I see a shift in my clients’ and fans’ mindset. For Inna it’s all about comfort and quality. She loves to dress up a modern business woman in her effortless chic dresses.

“If you feel nice inside, you’ll look good on the outside” -Inna’s dress philosophy

Of course, I had to try them on. The dresses come in 7 flattering colours (black, beige, grey, red, blue, purple and lilac) and they are tailored to fit 3 different body shapes: Rectangle, pear and hourglass. The sizes were true: I am a size 38 pear and 38 pear was perfect on me. The fabric is very comfortable, low maintenance polyester-viscose-spandex blend that you can wash yourself and it requires minimal ironing. As a mother of two energetic boys I can’t possibly bear the thought of taking items to dry-cleaners all the time. Also it was very refreshing to try on a designer dress that doesn’t cost an arm and leg!

I am wearing Inna-dresses for pear body shape from left to right: Emmy in black, Dora in blue and Anna in purple

For Inna her dresses are in continuous progress. She is dreaming of adding sleeves (we both love the ultra-flattering 3/4 sleeve length) to them, matching jackets, wider size range, maybe even expanding the collection with a few tasteful separates… I started immediately begging for the perfect wrap blouse, I am hopeless like that!

I on Image wears La Dress

When two gorgeous people point me to four gorgeous dresses, and they are all from the very same brand, it is time for a curious mind like me to investigate a little bit further…
I had the pleasure to visit La Dress showroom in Amsterdam last week. They have created a beautiful space full of glamorous Christmas spirit (It was hard for me to stay away from the macarons and Ferrero Rochers!) -and rails and rails of stunning, 100% wearable, I on Image-proof dresses. I was welcomed by lovely La Dress representative, Jint van Andel, who told me about the philosophy of the brand, materials, cuts, colours and much more.

To my delight all La Dress dresses are made in the EU, namely The Netherlands, Romania and Poland, using only the highest quality Italian fabrics. I like very much the aspect that you can wash your own dress and just hang it up and, voilà, you are ready to go. The jersey dresses don’t even require ironing so they are ideal for my globe trotting business clients who want to travel in style without ever having to sacrifice the comfort. Simone van Trojen, the creative mind behind the brand, wears every sample herself to ensure the quality, comfort and that luxurious feel that is the brand’s signature element.

It was difficult to choose my favorites, because there were simply too many, but I managed to narrow it down to top 5.

ROSA – This wrap-top number is made of comfortable jersey lycra fabric that flatters your figure. It has long sleeves and an understated sexy under-the-knee length. It comes in 4 stylish colours: anthracite, black, navy and cobalt.

CAROLINE -It is hardly a surprise that this beauty is a best seller. 3/4 sleeves are an elegant way to show off a bit of skin. It is made of washable and wearable light jersey. The dress has a flattering boat neck and a demure just-above-the-knee length. It comes in 11 different colours. There is a shorter version available, Carla, that comes is whopping 18 different colours!
ANDIE -This curve hugging 3/4 sleeve dress is made of luxurious heavy jersey. It has a sexy zipper that goes down all the way in the back. Speaking of memorable exits! It comes in two forever classic colours: navy and grey.

ALVA -This ultra-flattering dress is made of elegantly falling crêpe fabric. It is cinched in at the waist and flares at the hips. I love the gathered fabric around the bust and the demure under-the-knee-length. It comes in 3 stylish statement colours: red, black and blue purple.

PENELOPE – This gorgeous wrap dress is made of beautiful jersey lycra. It has an extended panel of material for ultimate comfort and cover . It has my favorite 3/4 sleeves and a collar that looks fabulous when popped up instead of worn down as in the picture. It comes in 5 wearable colours: black, ink (a great option for navy)

I am looking forward to bringing my dress-loving personal shopping clients to the ultimate La Dress experience at their atmospheric showroom in Amsterdam. Book this special La Dress personal shopping session now, for yourself or with a group of friends, by emailing ionimage@gmail.com or book an appointment by leaving your details here.

Wishing you a stylish rest of the week!

In the navy

I on Image is in love with navy blue for several seasons now. It’s a universally flattering colour and one of the best shades to choose in your working wardrobe. It’s very chic and elegant and most certainly less severe than black. Gone are the days of boring uniform-like pantsuits that are diplomatic in a sense that they look good on no one. This season navy is sleek, sexy, modern and it works for both day and night time.

I have created you five navy looks to wear this season in the office. I have combined navy with beige, grey, bordeaux and even black. Yes that is allowed in 2015. Hope you like them as much as I do!

Did you like these looks? If you don’t feel like shopping on your own, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me. Along my image consulting services I offer personal shopping service -live and online. Shopping with an expert saves you time and money, also it saves you from having a headache trawling around the shops alone. I have also pinned them all on my Pinterest board https://nl.pinterest.com/IonImage/i-on-image-working-wardrobe/styled-by-i-on-image-aw2015/ so you can pin them on your own style board.

Enjoy your new stylish week in sleek and chic navy!

More wine? I on Image tastes wines with Sanna Pöyry

It’s Friday and let’s just admit it : we all could use a glass of wine by now!

Luxurious and deep shades of red wine are huge this season and very appropriate for the office. Rich bordeaux is a very powerful colour, but it’s less aggressive than scarlet red, and it suits most colour types. It combines well with black, grey, white, cream and even pale pink.

I have created you four wine-hued looks to wear this season in the office. All looks can be pinned to your own style board here: https://nl.pinterest.com/IonImage/i-on-image-working-wardrobe/styled-by-i-on-image-aw2015/

Whether you are heading to the local hot spot with the colleagues or curling up inside a warm blanket at home, there is certainly something magical about a good glass of red wine on a crisp autumn evening. Wine educator Sanna Pöyry from Studio Bronx has chosen I on Image fans four amazing red wines to match each look. I have known Sanna since forever and I just love her joie de vivre. She is adventurous and passionate about wine and with her I have tasted some of the best wines I have ever tasted in my life. Here her impeccable taste in wine meets my passion for fashion. Santé!

Goes well with a Cabernet Sauvignon: Miguel Torres Manso de Velasco, Curico Valley, Chile

Goes well with a Merlot: Château Siaurac Plaisir de Siaurac, Lalande-de-Pomerol, France

Goes well with a wine from Chianti: Isole e Olena Chianti Classico, Chianti, Italy

Goes well with a Pinot Noir: Jean Stodden Spätburgunder Alte Reben Trocken, Ahr, Germany

Enjoy the rest of the week in style!

LBD for all body shapes

There is no single item in a woman’s wardrobe that is more versatile, more flattering or more chic than The Little Black Dress, aka LBD. Fashion bible Vogue praises this wardrobe classic:

“You can’t go wrong with a little black dress. It’s timeless, yet timely. Hardworking, but just a tiny bit frivolous. It camouflages flaws and showcases assets. It’s almost perfect.” Alexandra Horton

I have created 5 IOI-proof looks for you to wear in the office this season. Technically this one item is all you need to look polished and sophisticated every single day. The key is to find the one that works for your body shape and update is to each season with fresh accessories. Each dress featured in this story can be dressed up or dressed down depending on your accessories. I am crazy about combining nude heels with my LBD but the super chic quilted ballet flat does it for me too.

The 5 most common body shapes are:

  1. Apple
  2. Pear
  3. Rectangular
  4. Hourglass
  5. Inverted triangle

Find your own body shape by simply measuring yourself or look yourself in a full length mirror wearing black top and tights or leggings. This article gives you a full insight about finding your bodyshape http://www.whowhatwear.com/how-to-find-body-shape-calculator/

I always recommend dressing according to your own body shape to my clients. A lot of style advice is based on people having to hide their flaws, rather that embracing what is good about their body. For me this way of thinking is alien because hiding and projecting negative thoughts towards your body has never done anyone any favours. There is a dress for every body shape out there, go and grab yours!

Did you like these looks? I have pinned them all on my Pinterest board https://nl.pinterest.com/IonImage/i-on-image-working-wardrobe/lbd-for-all-body-shapes/ so you can pin them on your own style board.

Happy shopping and happy pinning!

No white after Labor Day

US Labor Day was on Monday 7th September 2015 and to many this has been the time to pack away your white clothing. I on Image answers the question that has plagued mankind for decades: Can you wear white after Labor Day? The grand house of American etiquette, The Emily Post Institute in Vermont gives us a historical insight to this style rule:

“Back in Emily’s day—the nineteen 00s, 10s and 20s—the summer season was bracketed by Memorial Day and Labor Day. Society flocked en masse from town house to seaside “cottage” or mountain “cabin” to escape the heat. City clothes were left behind in exchange for lighter, whiter, summer costumes. Come fall and the return to the city, summer clothes were put away and more formal city clothes donned once more. It was an age when there was a dress code for practically every occasion, and the signal to mark the change between summer resort clothes and clothing worn for the rest of the year was encapsulated in the dictum “No white after Labor Day.” And it stuck.”

Fashion bibles Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar declare this rule dead a long time ago and show several gorgeous ways to incorporate white in your autumn and winter wardrobe.

“The age-old adage advising not to wear white after Labor Day has never looked as wrong as it does for Fall 2015.”Steff Yotka for Vogue
“Whoever decided that white was unacceptable after Labor Day clearly never experienced the coziness of an alabaster-colored cashmere knit on a crisp fall day or the luxe feel of buttery leather leggings in the softest shade of cream.” for Harper’s Bazaar

I have created you four wearable white looks to wear this season in the office and beyond. All looks can be pinned from this Pinterest board: https://nl.pinterest.com/IonImage/i-on-image-working-wardrobe/styled-by-i-on-image-aw2015/

Did I convince you to wear white all year round? In case I did, it’s time to stock up on Vanish. Happy shopping and enjoy your well earned weekend!

Working in the heatwave

How to stay cool when the temperature keeps on rising? I on Image brings you 5 office looks that are all +30C proof!

You won’t be seeing my usual greys, blacks and beiges in this edit. This is the perfect season to rock some serious colour and crisp white is my preferred neutral to pair those sunny shades of coral, pineapple, grass, strawberry and the Mediterranean right now.

You may not need the blazer but I have added a fitted white one in case you have to present or meet a client. It upgrades your look immediately to business class and it’s nice to have sleeves should the office air-co be turned on max.

Commuters, pregnant ladies and those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, I have selected stylish flats to complement each outfit. Open toes are ok in most offices but make sure yours are at least well buffed. Neutral is the most stylish nail varnish shade of the season but nothing beats a classic red.

Stylish sunglasses are a must when you are popping out for your soy caramel frappuccino.
