I on Image and Inna-Store proudly present

Here at I on Image I have been picking up working again after summer holidays. In my last blog post I was writing about my die-hard love for autumn fashion and promised a lot of great things that my readers can benefit of.

“There will be new looks for you to shop or pin, great advice to boost your image and a top secret discount code (spoiler alert: it will make you the most stylish person in the office).”

I got a lot of positive feedback about the lilac dress that I wore at SPARK 2016 and I can only agree that is was fabulous! It was an Inna-Store “Dora” dress for pear shape and I could not be happier to have the wonderful opportunity to restart my public speaking engines in a dress that exuded confidence. You can read more about this memorable event on my blog post from July. I was delighted to wear something that was locally designed by another busy business woman, Inna Tetiyevska, who as a mother and an everyday aesthetic understood my needs completely.

“I want a gorgeous dress that I can just pick from the hanger, throw it on and run out to do my job, without having to think about it again the whole day.”

What I need -read: demand- from a work dress is that is has to be stunning . I want to stand out from the crowd and be remembered for the right reasons. It also has to be low maintenance. I hate ironing and who has the time for it anyway. Having your dress wrinkle already during your commute is a drama. I want to photograph well even late in the afternoon or even in the evening on an after-work event, and that sets high expectations to the dress material. Same goes for the dry-cleaning which makes me move right away on to another dress that can be machine washed. I always say that work clothes need to work for you, not the other way around, and thinking about maintenance is a crucial point when choosing the right dress. I want a gorgeous dress that I can just pick from the hanger, throw it on and run out to do my job, without having to think about it again the whole day.

Inna managed to tick all the boxes so I went and ordered mine -and I am already planning to go for a second one, possibly “Anna” again cut to fit my pear shape. The dresses come in 7 flattering colours (black, beige, grey, red, blue, purple and lilac) and they are tailored to fit 3 different body shapes: Rectangle, pear and hourglass. You can choose between a standard fit and a custom fit that is stunning bespoke creation that is made-to-measure so that your dress will fit like a glove and flatters your best features. You can read more about the dresses and the designer on my blog post from March.

Time has come to reveal the discount code that I on Image proudly presents with our partner Inna-Store! You get a 5% discount on your new stylish work dress at Inna-Store by using discount code IONIMAGE. Hope you will love your dress as much as I love mine. Enjoy!

There is something magical about autumn: The crisp morning air, darker nights, colourful foliage… and fashion. It’s my favorite time of the year and I always feel myself coming back to life after the long lazy summer days. I love dressing myself darker shades because they look infinitely more chic than the juicy summer tones that often make people look like they are trying too hard or are simply living in a coconut scented fantasy. Wrap me up in cool grey, stylish navy, earthy brown, buttery beige, powdery muted pastels and edgy black instead.

I am wild about combining different textures for interesting looks, for example crisp cotton with tweed or silk with leather, that are both my signature styles. There is also something very comforting about being more covered and this hasn’t got so much to do with age. I already fell for fall fashion when I was a teenager. Every September I am most delighted about the opportunity to start wearing my safety blanket -black opaque tights- again after months of running around with my lily white varicose-vein-ridden legs on display.

My unconditional love for autumn reached it’s current height when I worked in retail where autumn was a very important season. People tend to invest more in their autumn wardrobes because it’s mostly work wear and has a longer life span than summer fashion has. And when they are going to invest more they want to be sure that they are buying the right things. This was, and still is, a wonderful challenge for me and even now as my own boss when buying for summer I am already thinking how the item could translate into fall or even spring. This way my clients get more for their money and that is a wonderful thing!

In the coming weeks I on Image will be posting under theme: Back to Work. There will be new looks for you to shop or pin, great advice to boost your image and a top secret discount code (spoiler alert: it will make you the most stylish person in the office). Stay tuned and make sure to follow my daily updates on I on Image’s Facebook page. Book your image consulting session already now as I will be very busy in September and October. This will be an amazing autumn, I can feel it!

Summer special 2016: I on Image -En Vacance

Here comes I on Image holiday special for summer 2016! I know you have earned your stylish break so let’s make it a breeze for you. I have created a bunch of summer styles for you to steal.
I love these shades of coral and turquoise that take me immediately far far away on a pristine beach where the days are long and lazy. A wide brimmed sunhat and stylish sunglasses are an absolute must. I get headaches so easily in the sun, and who has time for that on a holiday. Flat sandals give your toes a break and matching accessories finish your look. I also always love to have a new summer scent that sets the mood for the whole season. I got mine already in May!

I hope you love these outfits as much as I do. You can find them all -AND MORE- on my Pinterest board: https://nl.pinterest.com/IonImage/i-on-image-en-vacance/styled-by-i-on-image-summer-2016/ Go ahead and pin them on your own style board! Then it’s time to sit back and just look good. Okay reading a nice book or having a cocktail with a colourful umbrella are pretty good alternatives too!

Packing is definitely my least favorite part of the holiday but with the help of professional organizers Melissa Curran Kalker of Sorted by Melissa and Susanne Gaspar of The Space Woman it feels like a walk in the park http://ionimage.nl/i-on-image-asks-the-experts-packing-for-holiday/

Activate your out office message and don’t skimp on sunscreen.
Have a lovely summer time!

I on Image is in love with Inna-Store dresses

On one of those rainy January days I drove to Rotterdam to see Inna Tetiyevska of Inna-Store to learn more about her beautiful feminine dresses. My day was immediately brightened up by listening to the Ukrainian designer’s vision on the modern working woman’s business wear. Inna has been drawing and sketching her whole life but she ended up studying linguistics. She moved to the Netherlands with her husband and had a child. Lucky for us dress-loving ladies, her true calling was too strong to resist and so she went and launched her first collection carrying her own name in spring 2014.

All Inna fabrics come from The Netherlands and since recently they are also sewn in a small atelier in Rotterdam. I am a huge fan of local produce and in my opinion clothes shouldn’t be an exception. We have been buying clothes from cheap sweat shops for too long and I see a shift in my clients’ and fans’ mindset. For Inna it’s all about comfort and quality. She loves to dress up a modern business woman in her effortless chic dresses.

“If you feel nice inside, you’ll look good on the outside” -Inna’s dress philosophy

Of course, I had to try them on. The dresses come in 7 flattering colours (black, beige, grey, red, blue, purple and lilac) and they are tailored to fit 3 different body shapes: Rectangle, pear and hourglass. The sizes were true: I am a size 38 pear and 38 pear was perfect on me. The fabric is very comfortable, low maintenance polyester-viscose-spandex blend that you can wash yourself and it requires minimal ironing. As a mother of two energetic boys I can’t possibly bear the thought of taking items to dry-cleaners all the time. Also it was very refreshing to try on a designer dress that doesn’t cost an arm and leg!

I am wearing Inna-dresses for pear body shape from left to right: Emmy in black, Dora in blue and Anna in purple

For Inna her dresses are in continuous progress. She is dreaming of adding sleeves (we both love the ultra-flattering 3/4 sleeve length) to them, matching jackets, wider size range, maybe even expanding the collection with a few tasteful separates… I started immediately begging for the perfect wrap blouse, I am hopeless like that!

In her shoes -I on Image meets Anna van Mills

I had the pleasure to talk with shoe designer and entrepreneur Anna van Winkelmolen of Anna van Mills just before Christmas. We met at the atmospheric Hoxton on Keizergracht and spoke about her brand and her vision.

Anna’s website is every shoe lovers dream come true: you can design your own dream shoes! And not just any shoes: high quality custom made leather shoes, manufactured in Italy, delivered on your doorstep. They are sophisticated, feminine and elegant.

Block heel pumps in Aurora -Salmon Pink

Block heel pumps in Aurora -Salmon Pink

There is a whopping 45 000 different combinations you can choose from:

  • 3 models: ankle boot, shootie and classic pump
  • 2 heel types: 70’s inspired stable block and classic stiletto
  • 2 heel heights: office appropriate 7cm and sexy, yet manageable 9cm
  • 2 noses: edgy pointy and sophisticated round
  • 3 leather types: nappa, suede and calf –all available in various gorgeous colours
  • 4 heel fabric options (my personal favorite is the heel dressed in the same leather as the shoe itself)
  • silver or gold buckles and logo
  • an option to choose an ankle strap or no strap

You get palpitations of excitement from much less!

Anna brought a few sample shoes and her leather samples in all gorgeous colours. I loved to see how the shades worked differently in different textures: so deep and rich in suede, so sleek in nappa. I was amazed how realistic the shoes look on her website. She told me that a huge amount of effort went into making the site as user friendly and high quality as possible and that really shows. The website with complete 3D models of the shoes is just amazing.

Disclaimer: once you start designing you will not be able to stop!

Anna showed me proudly the beautiful details on her shoes. I am all for the details and love the injected antislip pad that is placed cleverly under the ball of your foot for extra comfort. I was excited to hear that you can even choose the metallic shade of the logo inside of the shoe, I am nerdy for details like that. You can order your favorite Anna Van Mills heels also in half sizes upon request and try the shoes on before ordering them at an upcoming shop in the Pijp, Amsterdam. The standard size range is 36-41 but sizes 35, 42 and 43 are available upon request, which is fabulous shoe-news for my statuesque clients who haven’t been able to find an elegant shoe in their size.

Keeping dry & warm with I on Image

The past few days it has been chucking down with ice cold winter rain in The Netherlands. My news feed is full of people reporting getting soaked during the school run or on their way to the office. Those who live in milder climates find it hard to believe that people here still cycle every day but it’s all true! We are not put off by a little rain in here but it’s also depressing to feel wet and cold all day long. In today’s micro-blog I share my rainy day favorites that keep you dry and warm but also look nice.

Super warm water&wind proof Jack Wolfskin Iceguard winter parka does what it promises. I have this one in black but this one in White Sand looks lovely and light! In total there are 5 different colours. To order: http://www.jack-wolfskin.com/iceguard-coat/1201223-1010001.html

Danish Ilse Jacobsen makes warm winter wellies from 100% natural rubber from sustainable harvests. They have a warm lining and an extra inner sole. I have these in black with white laces but these beige ones are on my wish list. The long model come in 10 different colours. The boot is also available in 3/4 length and ankle length. I never have wet toes! To order: http://www.ilse-jacobsen.nl/contents/en-uk/d32_ilse_jacobsen_lace_up_boots_long_rub1.html

If the long parka feels too warm or bulky a Barbour International waxed cotton jacket is a great alternative. It’s still water and wind proof and it looks very stylish. I have this one in Sandstone from a few seasons back but the black one in the photo is very cool too. A longer model, classic Beadnell (worn even by The Queen!) is on my wish list. For stockists: http://www.barbour.com/eu/l/womens

Now I am off to make a jumbo cup of green tea. Stay warm and dry!

I on Image at work -Creating ageless and timeless looks

This great Guardian article by Alyson Walsh of inspirational style blog That’s not my age from last week made good fashion resolutions for grownups.

“…beyond a certain age, style becomes personal. The urge to buy into every trend subsides and it’s all about finding an individual look; one that’s timeless and ageless and works for you.”

http://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2016/jan/04/silk-shirts-and-silver-shoes-2016-style-resolutions-for-grownups?CMP=twt_gu

These are basically the same style dilemmas my clients battle with. I do my very best every day to help my clients find their own style that tells their story. I often get asked how. This is how I roll at I on Image.

Photo credits Rudi Wells at www.rudiwells.com

First I dive inside your wardrobe. I build strong looks from the items you already have. I take a critical look at each piece. Some may have to go, some will be replaced. I hang your complete outfits from Monday to Friday in your closet for fast and easy mornings. Often there are more than 5 outfits. And even more often the clients get inspired and creative along the process! Every outfit is documented and we take photos. Getting a sudden invitation will never be a fashion dilemma for you again. Your personal style journal will always have an answer for you.

Then we make a shopping list to fill in the gaps in your style narrative. I take in consideration your existing wardrobe, body shape, colours, budget and other special wishes. Many clients are surprised how short the list can be. My last client really needed just a perfect black jacket and a couple of shirts to replace the old ones.

Finally we hit the shops. Some clients like to shop on their own when they know what they are looking for. I am happy to shop with those who prefer gentle guidance. I know brands, materials, current trends and styles that will flatter you forever. Some customers feel confident enough to shop alone after a few rounds, some love the service so much that they don’t want to shop alone ever again.

I enjoy the most to see the glow of confidence and excitement on my client’s face when they try on an outfit or an item of clothing that speaks volumes on them. It belongs to their story and they know it.

“As Iris Apfel says, in life and in fashion: “It’s good to maintain a sense of wonder.”

Book your own personal shopping session by filling in the form below this post or drop me an email to ionimage@gmail.com. I am looking forward to working with you!

I on Image wears La Dress

When two gorgeous people point me to four gorgeous dresses, and they are all from the very same brand, it is time for a curious mind like me to investigate a little bit further…
I had the pleasure to visit La Dress showroom in Amsterdam last week. They have created a beautiful space full of glamorous Christmas spirit (It was hard for me to stay away from the macarons and Ferrero Rochers!) -and rails and rails of stunning, 100% wearable, I on Image-proof dresses. I was welcomed by lovely La Dress representative, Jint van Andel, who told me about the philosophy of the brand, materials, cuts, colours and much more.

To my delight all La Dress dresses are made in the EU, namely The Netherlands, Romania and Poland, using only the highest quality Italian fabrics. I like very much the aspect that you can wash your own dress and just hang it up and, voilà, you are ready to go. The jersey dresses don’t even require ironing so they are ideal for my globe trotting business clients who want to travel in style without ever having to sacrifice the comfort. Simone van Trojen, the creative mind behind the brand, wears every sample herself to ensure the quality, comfort and that luxurious feel that is the brand’s signature element.

It was difficult to choose my favorites, because there were simply too many, but I managed to narrow it down to top 5.

ROSA – This wrap-top number is made of comfortable jersey lycra fabric that flatters your figure. It has long sleeves and an understated sexy under-the-knee length. It comes in 4 stylish colours: anthracite, black, navy and cobalt.

CAROLINE -It is hardly a surprise that this beauty is a best seller. 3/4 sleeves are an elegant way to show off a bit of skin. It is made of washable and wearable light jersey. The dress has a flattering boat neck and a demure just-above-the-knee length. It comes in 11 different colours. There is a shorter version available, Carla, that comes is whopping 18 different colours!
ANDIE -This curve hugging 3/4 sleeve dress is made of luxurious heavy jersey. It has a sexy zipper that goes down all the way in the back. Speaking of memorable exits! It comes in two forever classic colours: navy and grey.

ALVA -This ultra-flattering dress is made of elegantly falling crêpe fabric. It is cinched in at the waist and flares at the hips. I love the gathered fabric around the bust and the demure under-the-knee-length. It comes in 3 stylish statement colours: red, black and blue purple.

PENELOPE – This gorgeous wrap dress is made of beautiful jersey lycra. It has an extended panel of material for ultimate comfort and cover . It has my favorite 3/4 sleeves and a collar that looks fabulous when popped up instead of worn down as in the picture. It comes in 5 wearable colours: black, ink (a great option for navy)

I am looking forward to bringing my dress-loving personal shopping clients to the ultimate La Dress experience at their atmospheric showroom in Amsterdam. Book this special La Dress personal shopping session now, for yourself or with a group of friends, by emailing ionimage@gmail.com or book an appointment by leaving your details here.

Wishing you a stylish rest of the week!

‘Tis the season to be jolly!

The festive season is here again, and despite it being mainly fun and games, the question is already out there:

What on earth are we going to wear?

To make your life easier and save your valuable time I have created a selection of fabulous party looks for you to steal! I was inspired by textures: lace, embellishments, sequins, embroidery… all beautiful things that have a little vintage feel about them. And this December I simply can’t resist a little fake fur jacket! I have pinned all these Christmas party looks -and more- on my Pinterest board “I on Image loves to party” so you can pin them on your own style board and share with your friends.

So go ahead and pour yourself a warm glass of red (a few wine suggestions on my earlier blog More wine? I on Image tastes wines with Sanna Pöyry) sit back and enjoy this virtual shopping tour. ‘Tis the season to spend time with your family and friends, not stressing out in shops! If you prefer to shop with a professional personal shopper, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me. Along my image consulting services I offer personal shopping service -live and online.

In the navy

I on Image is in love with navy blue for several seasons now. It’s a universally flattering colour and one of the best shades to choose in your working wardrobe. It’s very chic and elegant and most certainly less severe than black. Gone are the days of boring uniform-like pantsuits that are diplomatic in a sense that they look good on no one. This season navy is sleek, sexy, modern and it works for both day and night time.

I have created you five navy looks to wear this season in the office. I have combined navy with beige, grey, bordeaux and even black. Yes that is allowed in 2015. Hope you like them as much as I do!

Did you like these looks? If you don’t feel like shopping on your own, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me. Along my image consulting services I offer personal shopping service -live and online. Shopping with an expert saves you time and money, also it saves you from having a headache trawling around the shops alone. You can book your personal shopping session on my webpage or you can send me an email to reserve your spot in style!

I have also pinned them all on my Pinterest board https://nl.pinterest.com/IonImage/i-on-image-working-wardrobe/styled-by-i-on-image-aw2015/ so you can pin them on your own style board.

Enjoy your new stylish week in sleek and chic navy!
